Courtney's recent travels and discoveries

Life is busy!!! The past month brought me to Tahoe, France and Charlottesville, Virginia. A few notes on each….
Tahoe, after swearing off Gold Coast, the mid-mountain restaurant at Palisades, I re-discovered The Rocker. I remembered this as being a nachos and burgers joint only but was really impressed with their fresh salads, pickled vegetables and soups this time around. Also dying to try Sylva in Tahoe City which is getting rave reviews.
Next, to France where we were lucky enough to stay, apres (and ski) with friends at an Eleven Lodge, Chalet Pelerin. Eleven takes everything to the next level (hence the name) and I promise, you will not experience anything like this anywhere else. Comfortable, intimate and luxurious. Every detail is thought of and expertly executed from logistics, to incredible cuisine to drool-worthy decor so that you can sink into the moment and ski hard! (I will suffer Eleven withdrawals for months!)
On the way home we stopped in Geneva for a night which is just so Swiss! We stayed at Beau Rivage (under major construction along with a few pother major other hotels in the city) where incredible service made up for a few inconveniences. We embraced the old school vibe, had amazing and much needed massages and really loved our lunch at Brasserie Lipp.
Then
to Charlottesville to visit our daughter at school. Back to one of our favorite hotels there, The Forum Hotel by Kimpton where again, the service exceeds the level of the hotel. We were advised to order dinner in advance of our 10pm arrival and they had it waiting for us in the bar where they served us even though dinner was over. They also found the blouse I left in the closet and mailed it to me through ILeftMyStuff.com which was a first! We had a great dinner with my daughter and friends at Oakhart Social, hit up Ellies for “buckets” on Saturday, caught the UVA vs Notre Dame game and I even had time to sneak off for a quick shop at the incredible boutique, Scarpa.
Up next, a Northeast College tour with my youngest. Even though this is our third rodeo, we are visiting schools I have not been to before. I used AI to plan our route which proved to be incredibly efficient. Stay tuned for a new college tour guide upon my return!
